2015 - 2016 PRESIDENT’S ANNUAL REPORT

On June 30, 2016 a new Board was elected to AMPS as follows:

Garry Morris, President
Ned Cordery, Vice President
Kent Harrison Hayes, Secretary-Treasurer
June Pace, Director
Ellen Reiterman, Director
Eric Young, Director

On April 20, 2016 the Annual Meeting of AMPS took place in Ivins, Utah.

REORGANIZATION & PROGRESS:

At the annual meeting, the Board reviewed details from the 2015 AMPS Film Festival and opted to maintain the status quo for the 2016 Festival. However, the Board also concluded that the goal to expand the Film Festival, to include a live screening and award ceremony in the southern Utah area, should be further investigated for the 2017 festival.

Since relocating AMPS to the southern Utah area, and successfully completing the first Film Festival under the reorganization of the Society, the Board is pleased with the direction in which the Society is heading. Feedback from the 2015 Film Festival participants has been positive, only adding that a live festival / award ceremony would be welcome. The Board unanimously agreed and looks to thoughtfully expand the outreach and scope of AMPS over the coming years.

The AMPS Board has also:

• Expanded the new American Motion Picture Society website, and is looking to include additional links to and from the website for filmmakers.

• Amended the AMPS Core Values, and Constitution and Bylaws to more accurately reflect and support the ongoing changes needed to support the Society.

• Agreed to contact the organizers of the DocUtah Documentary Film Festival to investigate possible future synergies between the two festivals

OTHER BUSINESS:

The 2016 AMPS Board of Directors would thanked outgoing Board Directors Adam Mast and Sheldon Demke for their past service and participation to the Society.

CONCLUSION:

While AMPS continues to evolve, the Board is very encouraged with the feedback received from the 2015 festival season, and looks forward to expanding its outreach over the coming year.
